Laura liked it best of all because Pa&#8217;s voice went down deep, deep, deeper&#8230; &#8212; Little House on the Prairie, Chapter 5, &#8220;The House on the Prairie&#8221;<\/em><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;<br \/>\n<span style=\"float: left; color: #6384bd; font-size: 44px; line-height: 35px; padding-top: 3px; padding-right: 3px; font-family: Times, serif, Georgia;\">L<\/span>ittle is yet known about Laura and Mary&#8217;s favorite song from <em>Little House on the Prairie<\/em>. There are a number of undated songsheets (no music, only lyrics) for &#8220;The Gipsy King&#8221; (or &#8220;Gypsy King&#8221;). The undated music linked to below includes information that &#8220;Mr. Ransford&#8221; sang the song, and his name appears on music that is dated in the early 1850s, suggesting that &#8220;The Gipsy King&#8221; dates from this period.<\/p>\n<div class='et-box et-shadow'>\r\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class='et-box-content'><div class='one_half'>\r\n\t\t\t\t\t<strong>THE GIPSY KING<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>1. &#8216;Tis I&#8217;m the Gipsy King!\n<br class=\"clearfix\"\/>And where&#8217;s the king like me?\n<br class=\"clearfix\"\/>No troubles my dignities bring,\n<br class=\"clearfix\"\/>No other is half so free!\n<br class=\"clearfix\"\/>In my kingdom there is but one table,\n<br class=\"clearfix\"\/>All my subjects partake of my cheer;\n<br class=\"clearfix\"\/>We&#8217;d all drink champagne, were we able,\n<br class=\"clearfix\"\/>As it is, we have plenty of beer.<\/p>\n<p>[chorus] For, I&#8217;m the Gipsy King, ha! ha!\n<br class=\"clearfix\"\/>For, I&#8217;m the Gipsy King!<\/p>\n<p>2.
