Books Published as Spin-offs and Adaptations of the "Little House"® Series

In the 1990s, HarperCollins Publishers began publication of the Rocky Ridge books, fictional stories based on the life of Laura and Almanzo Wilder's daughter Rose, later called "The Rose Years." In 1996, the first of "The Caroline Years" books was released, containing stories about Laura's mother, Caroline Quiner. In 1999, the first books in "The Charlotte Years" series and "The Martha Years" series were released, with fictional stories based on the lives of Laura's maternal grandmother, Charlotte Tucker, and her maternal great-grandmother, Martha. In addition, a book was published in 2002 which tells the fictional story of the year the Ingalls family spent in Burr Oak, Iowa, a story which Laura Ingalls Wilder included in her Pioneer Girl manuscript but chose to omit when writing her "Little House"® books. In 2007, HarperCollins released two "Little House, Big Adventure"™ books, one about Mary Ingalls and another about Nellie Oleson.
